 The higher 5.7 percent growth rate for 2020-21 will make it more difficult for Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin and his staff to persuade the public of their success by the conclusion of the current fiscal year, especially if the GDP rate falls sharply. As Omicron Promotes Infections, Pakistan Sees the Second-Highest Daily COVID-19 Caseload Since 2020.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) reported 6,808 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the second-highest daily case count since the coronavirus pandemic began in 2020, as the Omicron strain spreads infections across the country. On June 13, 2020, Pakistan recorded 6,825 daily coronavirus cases, making it the country with the highest daily infection rate. According to the NCOC, a total of 58,943 tests were performed across the country in the last 24 hours, with 6808 of them returning positive, bringing the total number of infections to 1,345,801. The country's positive rate surged to a nine-month high this morning, with the infection rate at 11.55 percent. 3 People were Killed and 23 Others were Injured in a Bomb Blast in Lahore's Anarkali Bazaar.

LAHORE: At least three people were killed and 23 others were injured in a blast in Lahore's Anarkali Bazaar district on Thursday, according to police and health officials. The explosion happened about 1:45 p.m., according to the deputy commissioner of Lahore. He stated that the area is part of the Safe City project  and that all surveillance system evidence is being evaluated. Dr. Muhammad Abid Khan, DIG Operations Lahore, told the media that the inquiry is still in the early stages and that the nature of the blast is being determined.
