PM Imran declares during a live Q&A session that inflation is the only thing keeping him awake at night.
Prime Minister Imran Khan answered live on-air questions from the general public on Sunday at a program called "Aap Ka Wazir-e-Azam, Aap Kay Saath," during which he confessed that the single issue keeping him awake at night is inflation.
In response to a query on rising prices, the prime minister said it was the single issue that "kept [him] awake at night." He did, however, emphasize that the present inflation is a "global problem."
"When we first took office, we had to cope with a big current account deficit [...] as a result, import costs skyrocketed."According to him, the globe was experiencing a supply shortfall as a result of the coronavirus epidemic. "During the pandemic, the US spent $6,000 billion on people's welfare, and we spent $8 billion. Both countries' situations must be compared."
He went on to say that the United Kingdom was experiencing record inflation, as were other European countries.
He urged the media to take a "fair approach" while discussing inflation and to keep citizens informed about global events. "The epidemic is something that happens once every 100 years and has affected every country."
